What's the meaning of Fraze Gang?
When I was about 15 years old and just starting to get a grip on the
guitar , a drummer friend of mine Paul Beaupit used to jam with these
19 - 21 year old experienced musicians in his basement, and he used to
let me watch, and I was captivated. They were turning me on to Free,
Deep Purple, and James Gang and lots of great bands. I always remember
thinking the name "James Gang" was cool. And I thought that one day it
would be fun to have my own gang of friends called "FRAZE GANG." So
fast forward a couple of decades and FRAZE GANG was born!
How would you define yourself as a singer (and guitar player)?
As a singer and guitarist, I try to take a street approach to playing
the music and recording. Keeping things gritty and energetic with a
good feeling vibe coming across. I want you to come away from a FRAZE
GANG cd and concert thinking, that was a kick ass time! So, I guess I
would "define" myself as a Good Time,Singer Guitarist!
Which are your main influences?
My main influences would be, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, UFO, Deep Purple,
Rainbow, Elton John, Kiss.... If you go on our website
www.frazegang.com you can see who all our influnences are. We list
all our favorite singers, guitarists, movies, and lots of other stuff.
How was the process of the recording of Fraze Gang debut album?
The process was a very smooth, laid back, no pressure vibe. Because we
financed it ourselves, we did'nt have to answer to anybody. We did not
have to second guess ourselves.
If we liked what we were hearing we kept it. If it sucked it was gone.
Also the fact that the 3 of us are on the same page musically helped
things move along nicely.
Did you like the debut album? What's your favorite song and why?
I do like it. I listen to it for what it is. A honest record that's
great for background music at a big blowout party! As for favorite
song, "Blow Me Away" is probably my fave, because it's a lot of fun to
play on guitar and is a blast singing. It also seems to be a favorite
among our fans.
What do you think of internet? Is it a good way to promote a band?
The internet is the best. There's no better way to promote a band than
the net. Fraze Gang is getting response from all over the world
including yourself in South America. All of these different countries
are discovering us on the net. We have a myspace page
www.myspace.com/frazegang that is also a great way to communicate.
Best Tour Bus or your favourite Brighton Rock moment?
One of the my favorite Brighton moments was meeting one of my guitar
idols Michael Schenker. We got to talk briefly and I was lucky enough
to get a picture with him which you can see on our site. As for the
tour bus stories, there's too many to pick from but overall we used to
have a blast on the road. Just being able to meet famous people and
hang out with all these crazy people night after night was very
exciting. No matter where we played and how bad the situation was we
would always make the best of it and have a great time. Now we are
looking forward to some new favorite moments from FRAZE GANG.
And biggest disappoinments
Probably not getting a chance to tour to South America, Europe and
Japan. We were getting a lot of positive response from all these
different countries and we were hoping to play there.
Are you planning to play in LatinoAmerica?
We are planning to play there, it's just a matter of who is going to
make this all happen. We would love to and bring a little Kick Ass
Canadian Love to your country. If there is any promoters out there that
have some balls and want to take a chance on us, we are ready & willing
to deliver the goods!
What's next for Greg Fraser?
Just continuing making music and having a blast doing it! Spreading the
FRAZE GANG word all over the world. And Phil, www.myspace.com/philepp
and Stevie, www.myspace.com/stevieskreebs my partners in crime, are
also going to keep things moving and grooving!
If there's anything you'd like to say, please do it
To all the FRAZE GANG fans out there, the band truly thanks you for
keeping the dream alive and for buying our cd. And also for all your
